I spend a lot of time making sample cards using the products I offer. That's one of my best excuses for not posting to this blog more often! However, unless you dig through my website on a regular basis or see me at shows, you may never see all these sample cards which is pretty silly. So a lightbulb went off in my head the other day that I should be posting those samples here. If they inspire you (which I hope they do, of course), you can check out the products I used. Brilliant, huh? So without further ado, here's the latest:

This is a new sample using Memory Box's Delightful Daisy and Poppy Stamps' Double Stitch Scalloped Rectangle Frame and Stitched Butterfly Trio. This card was completed inspired by Pam Simpson's gorgeous card on the Poppy Stamps blog. You can see it here. I used Altenew's Glacier Caves beautiful blue inks and a Creative Expression Smoothie applicator to dab on the color.

This is another sample from Poppy Stamps using their new Cute Phone Booth, Brush Hello and Rotary Phone dies along with a really cute little stamp set called Call Me. The snappy black and white background paper is from Catherine Pooler's new 6 x 6" paper pack called Black Tie Gala. If you like black & white, you'll love these papers!

This is done with Memory Box dies Left Hutton Gate and Left Gate Background along with the gorgeous Drifting Side Butterfly. There's no end to the possibilities with Hutton Gate. There's also a Right Hutton Gate. You could use both together for a gorgeous gatefold card. I used the yummy purple iris Shimmer Sheetz for the backgrounds of both the gate and the butterfly. Someday I'll learn to photograph Shimmer Sheetz!

Of course you can adhere the gate to the background with Stick-It but I've discovered another great adhesive for your intricate die cuts. It's called Grafix Essentials Artistic Tac Dot Adhesive. They're sheets covered with micro dots of adhesive. Just lay your die cut on the adhesive sheet, rub it a bit and lift it up. Your die cut is not covered with tiny dots of adhesive on the back! Works like a charm.

Last but not least, is Country Rose Corner and Double Stitch Square Frames from Poppy Stamps. I also used the Mini Expression Hello & Hi die from Sue Wilson for Creative Expressions. I cut the Country Rose Corner twice out of green cardstock because I wanted a little more foliage then again out of pink to piece the petals into the green flower outline. (Used the Grafix Essentials Artistic Tac Dot Adhesive again on the pink petals.)

That's all for now! Be sure to check back soon.

I've been getting lots of new sample cards ready for the Adventures in
Stamping Show in Akron this month and thought I'd share a few with you.
These are all done with Shimmer Sheetz from Elizabeth Craft Designs.
If you haven't tried this glorious mylar before, you're missing out on a
really easy way to get some great cards in a hurry! Just cut your
Shimmer Sheet to size, pop it in an embossing folder and run it through
your machine. All that's left to do is a little light sanding.

This card was done using the Light Pink Shimmer Sheet and a Darice Embossing Folder called "Dandelions". In fact, this one wasn't even sanded!

I love the new "Poppies" folder from Darice and thought the Red Iris Shimmer Sheet was the perfect color.

If just embossing is too easy for you, try rubbing a little StazOn ink over the raised areas. This is an embossing folder called "Cherry Blossoms". I used the Australian Opal Shimmer Sheet with Blue Hawaii StazOn.
Keep in mind, you do need to use StazOn ink on Shimmer Sheetz as it's a non-porous surface.

Of course, Shimmer Sheetz aren't just for embossing. If you have a metal adapter plate for your machine, you can also die cut them. The Crystal Flower Overlay 2 and the beautiful Quietfire Designs "Hello" dies were both cut from Purple Iris Shimmer Sheetz. The word was even cut with StickIt on the back so that it would be easy to adhere!

Don't worry about the crackeling noise your machine will make - that's normal when cutting Shimmer Sheetz. Just be sure that your sandwich is cutting plate, metal adapter plate, shimmer sheet, die, cutting plate. It doesn't matter whether you start at the bottom or the top, as long as the Shimmer Sheet is between the metal plate and the die.

Everything used on this card is from Elizabeth Craft except for the Sweet Paris brad and the Basketweave embossing folder from Darice.

Hope you have some Shimmer Sheetz to play with. I'd love to see your creations!
pads will allow your inks to dry a bit too much otherwise.

If you're interested in making this card, you can find the 2 stamps here.

The second sample card was created using some of my favorite new dies from Memory Box, Glorious Hearts and Elliana Heart.

I used the largest size of the Glorious Hearts set to cut my pale pink
cardstock. Then I cut the Elliana Heart die with Bazzill white.

Without removing the die-cut from the die, I added a rubber mat to my
sandwich and ran it through my Big Shot a second time. This embosses the
detail from the die onto your die-cut.

Still leaving the paper in the
die, I stenciled some Angel Pink Memento ink through the openings. The
Elliana Heart was attached to the Glorious Heart with Tombow Mono Aqua
glue.

The background was done by simply brushing some Yasutomo pearl
watercolor paint across my watercolor paper card. I used pale pink and
peach colors.

These are the dies I used and a quick link to them here.

Elliana Heart

Glorious Hearts

So there you have it! Not exactly Jennifer McGuire but it's a beginning. Thanks, Joyce Hice, for the encouragement!
